here is what barbara logan told ntsb in her words. about 8:15 i called the pilots to fined out arrival time. we had been told 8:01. they said 12 greenwich time. i said, i did not that time. he said, i was hosed and hung up. he said i was hosed because he realized his problem. we also from the ntsb got a goo look at what they saw on the cockpit voice recorder. however, they were limited. the cockpit voice recorder is an old model, only catches last 30 minutes of in cockpit radio conversations or conversations between the two pilots. it picked up nothing of any value that the ntsb could glean. we've learned that the air traffic controllers in some cases handed off this plane from one controller to another controller to another but never actually made an attempt for quite sometime to raise northwest 188. so system failures here, poor communication, really kind of what we knew. by the way, by the time they finally reached northwest 188, he was on a winnipeg frequency, winnipeg, canada. he had missed his radio frequency and dialed all the

earlier today ntsb and faa, their crew flew out to jamaica to begin the investigation joined by american airlines, boeing air and ge air for the investigation. just an unbelievable scene in kingston, jamaica. when you listen to the passengers, they talk about how bumpy this ride was. this flight made a stop in miami and went on to kingston. they said between miami and kingston, the flight was bumpy, lots of turbulence. a little girl behind her was very nervous and she tried to reassure her everything would be okay. even though there was so much turbulence, the flight attendants had to sit down and buck emup, that crash landing was jarring. let's talk about the damage for a minute. two major cracks in the fuselage, landing gear was crushed. two engines peeled off which they are designed to do in this kind of crash landing. as you mentioned, just a miracle that not only did everyone survive, 90 people were taken to the hospital. only two of them with pretty serious injuries considering how they went down, just miraculous. contessa. >> kimberly, thank you very much. more details about a mis
